Q: How do I Create User Specific Support Menus? |
A: If the 0699 (or later) TM4 Update has been installed on your system, Teledex Support choices may be customized for a specific user or for a group of users. This will allow those users the ability to "work directly from the Teledex Master screen" by using the ALT F1 key to access their Support Choices. The procedures required to accomplish these menu changes include setting up custom menus and making changes to the Operator Master records for the operators that will use the newly created menus. A print screen of the standard menu for the Support Choices was shipped with the 0699 TM4 Update.
First, you will determine a logical grouping of users and which selections to have on each group's menu. For each selection that will be added, the program name and number will be required. To find these items, open the program from the current menu system. The program name will appear at the top of the screen. To locate the program number, use the F10 key to access the menu bar and move to the INFO selection. The program number will be listed on this screen.
When you have designed group menus with the various programs available to each group, you are ready to begin creating the menus themselves. Move to the Utilities Menu and select Menu Definition.
Adding A New Support Choices Menu
In order to add the new menu within the DataModes system, please use the following steps.
1. From the Utilities menu, select Menu Definition. At a blank menu (you may use the F5 Clear key if the menu is not blank), you will create the first menu. The menu number will be assigned automatically by the system. Support Choices menus will all use "0" (zero) as the "Returns to Menu Number: (on escape)". The menu title will be "SUPPORT CHOICES".
The items in the text column will be the program names and the Action Column will always indicate "CHAINW" and the associated program number for that line. Passwords may be added if desired. All information entered at the ACTION column must be in Uppercase!
When you are finished with the last line on this menu, use the F2 key to SAVE the changes. DataModes will assign the 'next available menu number' as it saves.
2. To determine the menu number that was just assigned, at a blank menu, type '99' in the Menu Number field and use the F9 key to 'find' the highest number assigned. This should be the menu you have just created. Make note of this menu number.
3. When the menus have been created and the menu numbers determined, those menu numbers need to be saved at the appropriate Operator Master record. Move to the System Parameters, Additional Parameters, Operator Master option and enter the menu number at the field "Teledex Support Menu".
